Boris: Give me 100 first-class
stamps,please.


Clerk: Here you are.That will be
25 dollars.Anything else?

B: Yes,I want 20 airmail stamps
for Europe.

C: Okay.Your total bill is 34 do-
llars.

B: May I have a receipt?

C: Of course (gives B a receipt).


B: I also need airmail labels.


C: All right,sir.

B: One more question. I want to
register this letter.Can I do it
at your window?

C: No.Go to the second window on
your right.

B:-(at registry window).I want to
send this letter by registered ma-
il.

C: You have to fill out this form.
Do you want a return receipt?


B: What is a return receipt?


C: The addressee signs a receipt
when he recieves a registered let-
ter or a package. This receipt is
returned to you by airmail by the
Post Office. A return receipt  is
your proof that the letter was de-
livered.

B: Okay.I would like to have a re-
turn receipt.

C: Then you have to fill an addi-
tional form that looks like a post
card. Come back to this window as
soon as you have filled  out the
forms.

Boris: I would like to  mail this
parcel by fourth class mail.

Clerk:-What's in the parcel?

B:-Nothing but books. The parcel
should be mailed by books rate.

C:-(weighs the parcel).Four pounds.
It would cost $1.95.


B:-How long does it take for a par-
cel to arrive in San Francisco?

C:- Fourth class mail takes about
15 days to arrive.

B:- Okay (pays for postage).I have
a problem.I'll be out of town next
week. Can you hold my mail for  me
at the post office? I'll pick it up
when I get back.

C:-Yes,we can do that. You have to
fill out this form.Bring it back to
me.
